Bulliwave
Bulliwave is a project that I started with a high school friend of mine back in 2017.
The idea was pretty simple: build a social network around finance. Now, I knew absolutely nothing about stocks, ETFs and the likes, but my friend knew a bit and had friends who did as well, so I built upon his "finance" social network idea.
When you posted about a stock or a fund on the site, that post would show up on the feed of people who followed you, but it would also appear on a page for that particular stock/fund, along with some information fetched from other sources.
We launched pretty quickly and had a decent amount of initial users, mostly people from my friend's circle.
For a while, we even managed to get above the big finance sites in search rankings when you searched for a few specific stocks - that's when I learned how powerful programatic SEO could be, especially when you have a bit of user content to add to it!
After a while however, things got more quiet, and my friend lost interest in the project, so we decided to shut things down.
Where is it now?
The company (yes - my friend had actually registered a company for this!) was closed in 2018, and the site is no longer available.
However, you can still see the homepage on the Wayback Machine.
